  • Being a good listener. To be a successful change agent, you have to ask a lot of questions and be a good listener. This will help you to explore the perspectives of different players, all while getting more buy-in from the team overall since they will feel like their voices and ideas are being heard.
  • Being flexible. If you’re going to be open to change, then you need to be flexible in your attitude. This means stepping outside your comfort zone and finding non-traditional ways of doing business and growing your company. 
  • Being a connector. A change agent is often the one who can see the big picture and the connections and divisions between departments. They understand where the gaps and overlaps are and how to improve efficiencies. 
  • Being curious. Being a connector takes extensive knowledge, both internal and external. It’s important to be curious about and work to understand the ins and outs of company problems. It’s also important to look outside of the company and industry for different solutions. This can lead to fresh perspectives and valuable insights. 
  • Being focused. To achieve your goals as a change agent, you have to be focused and detail-oriented. This means being able to create objectives, develop a plan, prioritize tasks, and motivate people.
